MINUTES – MALLTRAETH YMLAEN

WEDNESDAY – 27 FEBRUARY 2019

A warm welcome was given by the Chairman to all residents and guests who attended the meeting.

Dafydd informed meeting of the death of Alwyn Rowlands who had been a very valued member of the MY committee and will be sadly missed. Dafydd to send condolences on behalf of Malltraeth Ymlaen to Jude.

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD 23 JANUARY 2019 & MATTERS ARISING:

Bus shelters – as authority cannot find a suitable site there will be no bus shelter for Hermon

Minutes were approved as a true record of events and were unanimously accepted by the group.

POLICING MATTERS: PCSO Alison Williams not present. Dafydd informed the meeting that the current 18 PCSOs on Anglesey are to be reduced to 10.

COUNCIL TAX INCREASE: Ruling group had voted to increase council tax by 9.5%, despite officers recommending an increase of 6%. Councillors Owen & Rogers have objected to increase and have submitted a request for a referendum across Anglesey. In order for referendum to go ahead 5% of electorate need to sign petition. Dafydd to write to authority expressing concern at such a large increase. 

BETHEL PAVEMENT: Dafydd not yet written to authority as unsure as to what ‘an active travel area is’ the reason the authority gave for not carrying out work. The land needed for footpath still not purchased despite promises. The cost will have risen from £80k to £170k.

PUBLIC INTEREST REPORT: Public Interest Report into Bodorgan Community Council. Dafydd confirmed that £350 had been misappropriated.  He confirmed that a second community council had received a public interest report and the commonality between the two was the Clerk who was employed by both. Dafydd gave a brief background to problems, which led Welsh Audit Office to issue the report. Public meeting held by Bodorgan Community Council 19th February. Recommendations have now been accepted and submitted to Welsh Audit Office.

APPLICTION FOR SUPORT: There has been a request from a local parent to MY for a donation to finance costs of a young adult attending the Inter-island Games in Isle of Man. The meeting decided that it could not donate to individuals.

COMMUNITY CENTRE: Dafydd, Chris & Rhys trustees of the Community Centre had attended a without prejudice meeting with Dylan Edwards. Dylan Edwards informed them that the school would finally close on 31 March 2019 and all caretaking facilities would be withdrawn. Notes of meeting have been sent to solicitor representing Community Centre Trustees awaiting response. Dafydd informed the meeting that Community Centre Trustees have been shortlisted for Anglesey Charitable Trust Fund of £60k also £10k is available from the Community Council for purchase of site. Since Xmas use of centre has increased. Trustees will look at management of the community centre being done through Community Council but need to keep charitable status. A lengthy discussion took place re plans for centre. Dafydd to bring floor plans to next meeting.

2019 – 150 CLUB: Purchase of numbers still available.

FUTURE EVENTS: Look at holding a memorial event in memory of Ali. To be discussed next month.

REQUEST FOR MOTHER & TODDLER GROUP: Hannah Roberts has made a request to set up a Mother & Toddler group at the community centre on Monday mornings. Any toys left in container to be passed to group. An offer for equipment was made, Dafydd to pass details on to Hannah.

COMMUNITY ISSUES:

  • It was suggested MY have a website
  • Put hire fees of centre on various notice boards.

BODORGAN FORTHCMING COMMUNITY EVENTS:

Friday 22 March – 10 am to 12 noon - Open Coffee Morning at the Community Centre

Every Thursday – 7 pm Bingo at the Community Centre

Parkrun Newborough – 9 am every Saturday at Llanddwyn

RVS Lunch Club – every alternate Tuesday at Community Centre – next 26 March 12 pm

Easter Fair – Saturday 6th April – Crist Y Brenin 10 am – 12 pm

Wednesdays 9 am – 12 pm & 6 pm – 9 pm upholstery classes, community centre

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:

  • Car park at Morawelon not lit and consequently not used. Cllr Bryan Owen to discuss with Housing
