The day on which the annual Anglesey Marathon, organised by Menter Mon, is an important day in the Malltraeth calendar. The13.1 mile half marathon event, which was started in 2008, uses the latter half of the full marathon course. The starting point is in the Glantraeth Juniors football field, adjacent to the railway viaduct at Malltraeth. The full 26.2 mile marathon course also passes through the village. In 2009, both of these events were started by the Anglesey born Welsh rugby star, Robin McBryde, who also returned to the village later in the day. We note the hard work of Jackie Lewis,Elfyn Roberts and Rhian Hughes of Menter Mon in organising these events. Also, on the same day, the Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walk started and finished at Malltraeth, another event co-ordinated by Menter Mon.
The hard working group of local ladies organised the usual 'Fun Day' to coincide with these events.
